Police said on Sunday as the trio was thrashed with hot iron rods at Kumarpari village, a police team rushed to the area and finally rescued them braving the attack by mob who turned on the cops yesterday.

The villagers blamed them as witchcraft practitioners in the wake of some children in the locality falling ill.

The three were later taken to hospital.
