Mobile courts will be soon introduced in Panchayats, specially in Naxal-affected areas, that will dispose cases within six months, Union Minister for Law and Justice M Veerappa Moily on Saturday said.
Inaugurating a new High Court building in Agartala, he said, "We have trouble in Naxalite-infested areas and have decided to introduce mobile courts which will dispose cases within six months. This will instill confidence among the common people".
These courts will function like gramin nyayalayas. There would be one mobile court for five/six panchayats, Moily said.
Every panchayat would be sanctioned upto Rs 18 lakh for construction of a court building, he said.
Gramin Nyayalaya (rural courts) were functioning well in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the minister said.
Moily said Indian Judiciary was independent and one of the best in the world. However, it needed reforms with introduction of modern technology so that verdict is delivered faster.
No case should be pending for more than three years, he said.
The minister said Judicial Standard and Accountability Bill would be placed in parliament in the next month to make judiciary more transparent.
