"In the notice, we have asked her to join the investigation," said SS Deswal, Gurgaon police commissioner. Ruchi had on June 28 too tried to end her life, two days before her birthday, by taking sleeping pills. She had attempted suicide after a fight with her husband Sumit over his relations with model Meera, cousin of a Bollywood actor.

According to Ruchi's sister Shefali Gupta, Ruchi had written in the diary that Meera is the reason behind her troubled marriage. "Ruchi had also written how she was abused and insulted by her husband. We have submitted the diary to the police," said Shefali.

Ruchi's relatives also revealed that Meera had picked up a fight with the deceased before their marriage and the matter reached the Sarojini Nagar police station, though no formal complaint was filed. According to the victim's family, Sumit met Meera in Mumbai in 2000.
