Moderate intensity quake jolts Indonesia

A moderate earthquake rattled the ancient Indonesian city of Yogyakarta on Friday but there were no reports of damage or casualties.

The quake, measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale, struck Yogyakarta province in Central Java, according to the Jakarta-based Meteorology and Geophysics Agency.

The US Geological Survey measured the quake at 5.9.

The quake's epicentre was in the Indian Ocean, 33 km beneath the seabed and 283 km south of Yogyakarta province.
