Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh said on Tuesday that Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi had done nothing new for the state and it was the media that had made a hero out of him.

The former Madhya Pradesh CM, who was on a five-day private tour of Maharashtra’s Tadoba tiger reserve, said: “Gujarat was always a vibrant, pro-industry and a pro-development state. The progress that is visible did not happen overnight.”
Singh also criticised the BJP for inducting former Gujarat minister Amit Shah, an accused in two fake encounters, as national general secretary. “This has exposed the BJP. It is a pointer to its poll strategy in the coming general elections.”
