Modi rejigs administration before going on foreign tour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday rejigged his administration, involving 10 additional secretary-level officials in various ministries including crucial ministries like home affairs and petroleum.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday rejigged his administration, involving 10 additional secretary-level officials in various ministries including crucial ministries like home affairs and petroleum.

“The appointments were to be made before the PM departs on his foreign tour,” said a senior official involved in the process.

Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS Jaydeep Govind and Sanjeevanee Kutty, both belonging to the 1984 batch, have been appointed as additional secretary in the ministry of home affairs.

Additional secretary in the department of expenditure, Rajiv Kumar has been moved to the post of establishment officer in the ministry of personnel.

As EO, he will be the secretary of appointments committee of the cabinet (ACC) headed by the Prime Minister, which processes and makes all senior appointments in the government.

AP Sawhney from Andhra Pradesh has been made additional secretary in the ministry of petroleum and national gas, while Bharti Sihag has been shifted from the ministry of information and broadcasting to the ministry of steel as additional secretary.

The 1984 batch Rajasthan cadre IAS Pritam Singh has been appointed as additional secretary ministry of corporate affairs whereas Jharkhand cadre IAS BK Tripathi has been brought in as member secretary of the NCR planning board in the ministry of urban development.
