Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech in Srinagar rally as an electoral gimmick, the CPI ((M) on Monday said the PM had nothing substantial to offer to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued here, party's state secretary Mohammad Yousaf Tarigami blamed the Modi government for stalling talks with the Pakistan without any reason.

"J&K was hit by devastating floods but the Modi government didn't bother to declare it as a national disaster. Is this how Modi wants to side with the Kashmiri people?" Tarigami asked.

He said that Modi has unsuccessfully tried to cash in on Atal Behari Vajpayee's 'myth of Insaniyat Ka Dayra' which has unfortunately no takers in Kashmir.

"Let me inform Modi that it has no currency now in Kashmir even during the ongoing election season. It was during Vajpayee's time that the autonomy resolution was outrightly rejected without even being deliberated by his government," said Tarigami.
