The stage is set for Narendra Modi to make his mark in the Capital. And the BJP plans to land its prime ministerial candidate in style: Modi will directly fly to the venue in a chopper.
Modi’s helicopter will land near Japanese Park - the venue in Rohini where the September 29 ‘rally of development’ will be held. According to sources, a private chopper operating firm has been approached and a meeting will be held on Wednesday to finalise the details.
Senior BJP leader said that they would approach the aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), for permission.
“We are making preparations and everything will be finalised tomorrow. We have started cleaning the helipad area, which had been locked up for quite some time,” said a senior BJP leader.
Sources said the chopper would be parked at the Delhi airport and Modi, after reaching Delhi, will be flown directly to the venue around 10am.
The party is going all out to make it a big success. In a meeting convened by the party’s Delhi election in charge Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday, the issue of traffic jams - which may happen due to the large gathering - was raised. The party then appealed to the people making their way to the rally to opt for car-pooling to reach the venue.

{{/usCountry}}“We will be putting up information boards directing the crowds to the venue. To ensure that there are no traffic jams, we are requesting people to opt for car-pooling. Around 3,000 buses would be arranged by the party,” said Vijay Goel, Delhi BJP president.
The party is printing special invitation cards to be sent out to eminent personalities.
The party has set up countdown timer, as was done during the Commonwealth Games in 2010, at 20 strategic places in the city. As more than five lakh people are expected, the party will install LED screens at the venue with a state-of-the-art audio system so that everyone is able to see and hear Modi.
“There will be two main screens behind the stage and 20 LED screens within the ground. These 20 LED screens will ensure that those attending the rally can get a close view of the leaders at the stage.”The party is preparing stickers, pamphlets, T-shirts and caps that will be distributed as a part of the merchandise.
