“No action. It is all your imagination,” Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily, AICC in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, had told reporters here when he was asked if Reddy would face disciplinary action.

The yatra is seen as a show of strength by Reddy, son of late chief minister Y.S.R. Reddy, whose claims to the post after his father’s death last year were sidestepped in favour of then finance minister K. Rosaiah.

Reddy’s yatra was boosted with a dozen legislators, including Minister for Social Welfare Pilli Subash Chandra Bose, joining in East Godavari district on Saturday. More legislators are expected to join on Sunday.

Enthused by a large turnout, Reddy has decided to extend the yatra in East Godavari by six days. His tour in the district was to end by July 18.

“There is demand from all sections of the people that Jagan should visit their areas and he simply cannot say no,” an MP said. “Hence, he has decided to extend the yatra.”
