"This is a serious case in which the Andhra Pradesh Government should take stringent action," Chandy told PTI.

In their complaint, the students of a nursing college in West Godavari district had alleged that TDP MLA from Kovvuru T V Rama Rao had sought to molest them.

Kerala Government had last week had urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to order a probe into the allegations.

According to Chandy, this is a very serious matter and the Andhra Pradesh Government should take effective measures in the case.

He said it was difficult to believe the TDP's contention that the allegation was a Congress conspiracy to malign the MLA's image. "Will any student or their parents lodge such a false complaint risking their own honour and future?" he asked.
