Mongia made 116 to help Leceistershire score 256 for three in 81 overs in their first innings on the first day of the match being played on their home ground.

The Punjab batsman faced 222 balls in 235 minutes hitting 12 fours after A Habib was sent back cheaply on an individual score of 4.

Openers JK Maunder (71) and DL Maddy (26) provided a solid foundation to the team.
