After a glorious opening first-class game last week, Zaheer Khan saw his rhythm desert him in Worcestershire's outing against Lancashire at New Road.

The Baroda paceman, who claimed his career sixth 10-wicket haul against Somerset in a County Championship Division 2 match, returned none for 55 even as Lancashire posted a modest 248 for five at the Worcester County Ground.

Lancashire struggled against the medium fast bowling of right-armer Daryll Mitchell who used the favourable conditions to claim 4-42.

Aussie veteran Stuart Law was the top scorer for the visitors with an unbeaten 70 while opener Mal Loye made an accomplished 64.

In reply, Worcestershire had slipped to 70 for four at the half-way mark of the innings.

At Grace Road, Leicestershire were chasing a Warwickshire target of 129 to win a match reduced to 33 overs a side.

Mongia had one for 14 after bowling two overs while the bulk of the damage was done by Jim Allenby who grabbed 4-19 from seven overs.
