"Monsoon has not progressed further. Rainfall has been good in some places in the west coast. Rainfall has not been heavy," IMD officials said.

Further advance of the monsoon is expected in the west coast to parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra in the two-three days, they said. The pre-monsoon rainfall has not been good this season.

The monsoon had advanced into Goa. There have been moderate rains in Kerala and coastal Karnataka so far. However, the rainfall activity is expected to go up.

The officials said the monsoon last year was bad due to which water reservoirs had not been filled up. "We hope that this year monsoon would make up for the deficiency seen last year."
