THE CITY experienced first monsoon showers today, more than a fortnight behind the scheduled date. With mild rain going on throughout the day, the day temperature dropped two degrees below normal.
Talking to Hindustan Times over the phone, Meteorological Department (Bhopal) Director D P Dubey informed that the monsoon had entered the State today and had crossed Indore also. He revealed that scheduled date of arrival of monsoon in Indore is June 13.
He said that till 8.30 am, there was two mm of rainfall in the City. He further said that rainfall activity would intensify in Indore after first week of July. City would experience consistent rainfall in the month of July. As long as the monsoon activity persists, weather would remain humid, which would cause delay in drying of clothes in months to come.
Maximum day temperature of the City was 30.4 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees below normal. Night temperature was 22.7 degrees Celsius, which was normal.
During morning hours, relative humidity was 81 per cent while during evening hours it was 68 per cent, which made conditions somewhat sticky throughout the day.

{{/usCountry}}Dubey revealed that there was a weak upper air circulation over north Madhya Pradesh that was partly responsible for fast advancement of monsoon. He added that sometimes advancement of monsoon was very fast.
He said that in one single day monsoon has advanced in many parts of State and by the time of filing of this report monsoon had touched Guna. He informed that a low-pressure area had developed over Bay of Bengal.
