The flood situation in Assam worsened on Tuesday as surging water level in the Brahmaputra and its tributaries inundated more areas.

Incessant rain in Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh in the last few days led to overflowing of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries in Jorhat , Sivasagar , Sonitpur and Barpeta districts, states the flood report released by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.

As many as 11 districts have been affected in the current flood situation. The flood affected districts are Chirang, Dhemaji, Golaghat, Jorhat , Kamrup, Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sivasagar and Tinsukia.
