It turns out that the LeT module they busted last Friday by picking up three of its core members, including Unani doctor Tanvir Ansari, is controlled by Rahil Abdul Sheikh, a top LeT commander. Rahil is a key suspect in the blasts case.

Another suspect, Faiyyaz Kagzi, who is absconding, is alleged to be part of the same module. Three months ago, Faiyyaz had visited Pakistan via Iran for training at the LeT base in Bahawalpur in Punjab province. According to sources, he met the LeT’s boss in India, Azam Cheema, who is based in Pakistan.

So far, three members of the module are in the net: Ansari, Zameer Sheikh and Sohail Sheikh.

Rahil and Faiyyaz, along with another LeT operative Zahibuddin Ansari, allegedly orchestrated the smuggling of a huge cache of arms and explosives in Marathwada in May 6, according to Joint Commissioner of Police KP Raghuvanshi. The police say Rahil is also a master forger.

Police records have no photographs of Rahil as he refused to get himself snapped on the grounds that Islam forbade pictures. He reportedly handles all communication between LeT cells in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi and Cheema.
