MAYOR DR Uma Shashi Sharma today inspected the Narmada supply apparatus to gauge firsthand the reasons for power cuts that have dogged Jalud pumping station over the last week.
The Mayor declared that she would personally take up the matter of power cuts with Western Region Electricity Distribution Company CMD Pramod Aggarwal. For their part, however, Narmada Project officials should leave no stone unturned to ensure unhindered water supply during the summers, she instructed.

The problem, however, is that if power is cut off for even 5 minutes it causes 2 to 3 hour setback in distribution process as it takes this long for the pumps to be restarted. However, we have sought feedback on power cuts from our staffers at Nimrani and Badwah (both in Khargone district)- the two units used to supply power to Jalud. In any case, if power supply is cut off from one unit the backup is activated within 10-30 minutes.
