This may not be bright news for cricket lovers who are hoping to watch a good contest between the India and England with the Meteorological Department forecasting possibility of more rain over the next two days.
The Meteorological Department, which had on Tuesday correctly predicted that Mohali and Chandigarh would receive showers, on Thursday said two weather systems were building up which could bring snowfall in the upper hills of the neighbouring Himachal Pradesh and rains in the plains of Punjab.
Mohali and some other places in Punjab including Patiala and Ludhiana had overcast sky today and received light showers.
"Light to moderate rain or snow will occur at many places in HP while light to moderate rain is likely at a few places in Punjab and Haryana. Hailstorm/thunder squalls with wind speed exceeding 45 kmph are likely at isolated places in the region," Director of the Chandigarh's Meteorological Department Chattar Singh, told.
Asked about the forecast around Mohali and Chandigarh over the next two days, he said "generally cloudy sky with possibility of a few spell of rain or thunder showers is likely".
He said a Western Disturbance over north Pakistan and neighbourhood was lying as an Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation which could bring more rain.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature was likely to settle at around 27 degrees on Thursday.
