British rocker Pete Doherty was in custody after pleading guilty in court to possessing heroin, police said.

The 26-year-old singer of the group Babyshambles, and former boyfriend of top-model Kate Moss, was remanded in custody on Friday as an application for bail was refused.
Police said the rocker, who has a history of drug abuse, was stopped by plain clothes officers in London on Thursday looking "dishevelled".
They found a wrap of white powder in the pocket of his jeans, a court in east London heard.
When told about the bail refusal, Doherty pleaded: "Please, officers, don't do this. I've got a gig tonight, cut me a break."
District Judge Stephen Dawson told him: "I'm sorry if my order will affect your fans and people who go to your concerts."
The singer was remanded in custody to appear again on Feb 8 at Ealing Magistrates' Court in west London for sentence.
Meanwhile, it was reported Friday that Moss, who was secretly filmed last September taking cocaine in a London studio where Doherty was recording, would not return to London for police questioning.
The 31-year-old model, who lost lucrative contracts over the drugs scandal, has been in the US since the affair broke.
