Asian Games' double gold-medallist K M Beenamol has been chosen for the Samsung "Most Valuable Performance by an Indian" award for her spectacular show in the 16-day meet at Busan.
Besides the two golds, which she won in the women's 800m and 4X400m events, the 27-year old athlete from Kerala also bagged a silver medal in the 400m to help India put up one of their best performances in the Games' recent history.
The diminutive runner, who was selected for the award by five eminent Indian sports journalists present in Busan during the Games, would receive a complete range of products from Samsung India Electronics Limited, official sponsors of the 14th Asian Games.
The criteria for the MVP award were - creating a world and/or a Games record, consistency in performance in relation to previous Games, winning multiple gold medals and fighting spirit and according to a Samsung India press release Beenamol met the maximum number of the criteria among the Indian medal winners to bag the award.
