The Congress on Wednesday handed over documents related to Professional Examination Board (PEB) scam to Special Investigation Team (SIT) that has been constituted to monitor Special Task Force (STF) investigation into the multi-layered scam.
The documents were handed over to Justice Chandresh Bhushan. He is chairman of the SIT. The documents show that despite clear discrepancies in recruitment process, action was not taken by the STF.
Documents including advertisements about recruitment, call records, points in memorandums of charge-sheet and other papers were handed over. State Congress' chief spokesperson KK Mishra said while handing over the documents, he expects that the SIT would ensure justice.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Mishra said many documents that show how the STF didn't act properly, have been handed over to the SIT. "In fact, the STF was employing the pick and choose style in its investigation. Many people were booked while others who were clearly involved in the scam and there were evidences against them, were not even quizzed. We expect that the SIT would take action," Mishra said.
Later, the Congress will hand over more documents to the SIT. Former chief minister Digvijay Singh had recently approached the high court and had filed a petition for CBI investigation. Though the court rejected the petition, it formed a SIT to monitor the STF investigation.
