The MP forest department on Tuesday advised people in Majhipur village in Mandla district to move in groups in forest areas instead of going alone.

The advisory comes in the wake of a tiger killing a 22-year-old woman, Ram Bai, in the buffer zone of Kanha National Park on Saturday evening.

A team of forest personnel of Kanha National Park continued its movement in areas near Majhipur where the tiger had killed the woman to check the movement of the feline.

The team, however, didn’t find any movement of the tiger in the area, said Kanha National Park field director KS Chouhan.

The department has advised villagers to move in groups whenever they go to the forest area, he said.

He further said the department is taking help of micro-level committees in the villages including eco-development committees to raise awareness among people on the movement of tigers and protection from wild animals.
