MP: Rajdhani Express catches fire

Fire tenders from Morena were pressed into service to douse a fire in SLR-generator coach of New Delhi-Bilaspur (no. 12442) bound Rajdhani Express near Chambal bridge between Dholpur and Morena junction at around 7.15pm on Tuesday.

Fire tenders from Morena were pressed into service to douse a fire in SLR-generator coach of New Delhi-Bilaspur (no. 12442) bound Rajdhani Express near Chambal bridge between Dholpur and Morena junction at around 7.15pm on Tuesday.

Consequently traffic on the Up track was affected for more than 2 hours.

The cause of fire in SLR-generator coach, attached with the guard coach at the back of Rajdhani was still not known till the time report was filed.

According to information, the guard signalled to the driver to stop the train after noticing the fire.

The train was halted between Dholpur and Morena junction some 60km from Gwalior station.

It is a bi-weekly train, running on Tuesday and Saturday, between New-Delhi and Bilaspur.

The schedule arrival of train at Jhansi is 8.40pm after originating from New-Delhi at 3.45pm. It doesn’t have halt at Gwalior.

A rescue team of Railways after reaching the spot detached the ill faded bogie from the train.

At Gwalior station additional coach of SLR-guard will be attached with the train, told railway sources.
