THE NEWLY APPOINTED State Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Vijay Ratan Khare, has stressed that proper utilisation of forest resources could well lead to all-round development of a nation and merely industrial revolutions were not necessary to achieve that.
Khare was speaking at a lecture series at the Press Information Bureau (PIB) office in Malviya Nagar here on Friday. Praising the State Government for launching the Jyoti Village Scheme for optimum utilisation of forest resources, the PCCF maintained the scheme would go a long way in ensuring proper use of the forest resources.
He informed MP had 94,000 square kilometer forest area, which was the largest in the country. The villagers of the forest areas would be greatly benefited through the scheme that would also provide them employment in different sectors, he opined.
Khare said that the images from satellite showed that the State had not only the largest forest area, but according to quality it was the best in the country. Asserting that Kanha, Bandhavgarh and other reserve forests were the pride of MP, Khare said 60 per cent of MP’s forests were of top quality.
He also informed that the State was way ahead of other states as far as Joint Forest Management (JFM) was concerned. The country had 44,000 JFM committees out of which 14,000 were in MP alone, Khare maintained.
