COME WEDNESDAY morning and the toughest time in the year for youth, for some in their entire life, starts as the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) examinations begins.
The stage is set for the annual examinations and a total of 15,544 students will appear for the higher secondary exams while 24,962 will appear for high school exams.
The Board completed almost all initial formalities for exams, by sending question papers, answer sheets and other necessary documents to exam centres across the State.
According to District Education Officer (DEO) OP Sharma flying squads have been constituted to check the use of unfair means and officials have been given particular responsibilities.
A total of 79 exam centres have been fixed for regular students of higher secondary exams. With temperatures rising, the board claimed that water and other facilities had been provided at the centres. “We are in position to conduct exams successfully,” Sharma said.
This year the board was faced with the problem of the required number of furniture and one or two centres lack proper furniture. Sharma, however, clarified that in other centres, facilities were up to the mark and arrangements for emergency lights too had been made where there was inadequate lighting. The evaluation of marks will start by mid-March and the Board has already appointed teachers for this purpose.

Strict measures against mass copying
THE BOARD has taken stringent measures against mass copying. In the meeting held on Monday, it was decided that copies of students caught in the mass copying would be sent directly to the district headquarters. Their copies would be checked by concerned subject teachers who do not belong to the centre where the copies were booked. The result of these copies will be awarded either zero or the exam would be cancelled. The memorandum of the centre will be given priority.
