MADHYA PRADESH Housing Board (MPHB) is one of the biggest violators of the land registration rule what with its 11-acre land acquired from the Nazool Department in 1964 still being unregistered.
Similarly, it has 40-acre land at Harshavardhan Nagar, 19-acre at Bhadbhada, 1.08 acre at Roshanpura, E-2, E-3, E-4, E-5 and E-7 of Arera Colony, Nishant Colony, and land at Arera Hills, which are still not registered.
According to an estimate, there is a loss of stamp duty worth Rs 50 lakh due to non-registration of documents related to
the land given to the MPHB.
Now the district administration has decided to crack the whip on flouters. With a view to augmenting its stamp duty collection and regularising land registration system, the district administration has written to the Board to register land handed over to it by the Nazul Department in the past.
Some other Government agencies involved in trading land and houses are also flouting the registration rule. Earlier, the district administration had written a letter to the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) asking it to register its shops. The
BMC did not register over 3,000 shops constructed in different parts of the City. The BMC has provided these shops through long-term lease. The district administration is likely to write letters to some other departments in this regard.
