MPHB?s Riviera housing project under scanner

MINISTER FOR Urban Administration Jayant Malaiya today informed the State assembly that two separate inquiries were being made into charges of poor construction and corruption in the prestigious Riviera project of M P Housing Board (MPHB) in Bhopal.

Replying to a query of Indrajeet Kumar of the Congress during Question Hour, Malaiya admitted that a portion of one of the buildings constructed under the project had collapsed. He said that retired Chief Technical Examiner (CTE) K P Garge was inquiring into complaints of poor construction and delay in execution of the project.

A separate inquiry was being conducted by the Lok Ayukta in the matter, he said. Fourteen duplex and triplex are being constructed under the project near Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT).

Administrative sanction of Rs 2365.50 lakh and technical sanction of Rs 2104.10 lakh has been given for the project, the Minister informed.
