MPMDC, JP sign MoU for mining coal in Amelia

CHIEF MINISTER Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said the State Government would extend all possible support to prospective entrepreneurs for investment in industries and power generation in the State.

He was speaking at a function organised here today to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Madhya Pradesh Mining Development Corporation (MPMDC) and Jai Prakash Associates Limited for mining coal in Amelia north coal block in Sidhi district. JP Associates would provide coal for 1000 MW power plant to be set up in Sidhi.

An estimated Rs 4,800 crore would be invested in coal mining operation and power plant installation. This would generate employment opportunities for local population and help develop industrial infrastructure. Manoj Gaur on behalf of JP Associates and Managing Director of Mining Development Corporation Devraj Birdi on behalf of the State Government signed the MoU.

The Chief Minister on the occasion said efforts had been intensified for power generation to meet increased demand. Greeting JP Associates for partnership in mining operation and power generation, he said signing of an MOU for joint venture in mining and power generation was a step towards harnessing of mineral resources for quick development of the State.

Minister for State Mining Laxmikant Sharma said mineral- based industries had great potential in the mineral rich State. He said Government of India has allotted Amelia and Amelia north coal block in Sidhi district to the Mining Development Corporation.

The private company would set up 1,000 MW plant having an investment of Rs 5,000 crore. An investment of Rs 12,800 crore in coal mining and thermal power generation is proposed in the State.

Minister for Industries Babulal Gaur, Chairman of Mining Corporation Kok Singh Narvaria, Minister for Urban Administration Jayant Malaiya, Minister for Health Ajay Vishnoi, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Narottam Mishra, organising general secretary of BJP Professor Kaptan Singh Solanki, Krishna Gaur, Chairman of Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board Rakesh Sahani were also present on the occasion.
