MADHYA PRADESH will get 400 MW power from plants being set up by Kolkata-based Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) in Jharkhand and West Bengal.
The Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPSEB) and the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today. Madhya Pradesh would get 400 MW power by June 2007.
According to an official release, the DVC is installing its plants at Chandrapura village of Jharkhand and Majia village of West Bengal and it will supply 400 MW power by June 2007. Central Regulatory Commission would decide the rate of electricity.
State Chief Secretary and MPSEB Chairman Rakesh Sahani signed the MoU on behalf of the State Government while RK Sen chairman of Damodar Valley Corporation signed it on behalf of the Corporation. Minister for Energy Kailash Vijayvargiya was present.
The supply of additional power will enable the State to deal with the power crisis and it will go a long way in patching the gap of 1,950 MW power between demand and supply.
