MPSTDC officers and employees’ joint union president S K Jain told Hindustan Times that the union had had a meeting with MPSTDC MD Alka Upadhyay on January 10. ``

The MD had assured of granting 5th pay commission pay scales to staff from February 1, 2006 onwards,’’ asserted Jain.

However, he added that the assurance was missing in writing when the minutes of the meeting were drafted. That enraged the employees and they staged a demonstration shouting slogans and wearing black armbands this afternoon at about 1 pm.

Subsequently, another meeting was held between the union and management at about 2.15 pm. `` The management has now reassured that 5th pay commission scales would definitely be granted from February 1 onwards,’’ Jain said.
