Mr DGP, this inspector knows your boss!

DIRECTOR GENERAL of Police (DGP)-UP Bua Singh was recently made to realise the ?limits? of his jurisdiction by none other than an inspector! The DGP transferred an erring inspector from a city police station to the Police Lines on Sunday. What the DGP perhaps didn?t know is that within a few hours, this ?powerful and influential? inspector will get himself posted at a police station, very much in Lucknow, of greater importance than the one from where he was shunted out from.

The DGP transferred an erring inspector from a city police station to the Police Lines on Sunday. What the DGP perhaps didn’t know is that within a few hours, this ‘powerful and influential’ inspector will get himself posted at a police station, very much in Lucknow, of greater importance than the one from where he was shunted out from.

On the other hand, the Circle Officer, Kaiserbagh, Ajay Mishra, who too, was transferred along with this ‘powerful’ inspector, is still cooling his heels at the Police Office, as he lacks the required connections.

The DGP had lost his temper after the traffic jam at Charbagh delayed movement of his vehicle late on Sunday evening. DGP Singh probably was unaware that the traffic jam is a routine affair on the one-kilometre stretch (between the Roadways Station and Ravindralaya) on the Charbagh route, since early morning to late in the night. Zigzag parking of UPSRTC buses, auto-rickshaws and city buses always leads to chaos on the busy road.

‘Unfortunately’, the DGP took the Charbagh route to his residence while on his way home from Alambagh that day. As usual, his vehicle too, was trapped in the traffic jam for over 20 minutes and the policemen on picket duty were not making any effort to have the traffic flow improved.

Sources said the DGP too, had to face a dressing down from the ‘top bosses’ for transferring JP Yadav.

It is not only JP Yadav who enjoys the position of ‘holy cow’ in the Lucknow Police. There are few others who dictate their own terms and the senior cops avoid issuing any orders to them.

For instance, none of the senior cops ever muster courage to transfer station officer (SO) Thakurganj RB Singh Yadav who is posted at the same police station for the last two-and-half years. Yadav attends routine meetings called by senior officials at his own sweet will. Even if SP (West) or the concerned CO ever organises meeting of the SHOs and SOs of the area at the Thakurganj police station, Yadav prefers resting in his room instead of attending the meetings.

Officials of any rank never ask Yadav about the law and order situation for Yadav claims to be the maternal uncle of the Chief Minister! There are a few other such lower-rung officials in the State Capital who are enjoying thus.
