MRPS activists set ablaze Govt office in Andhra Pradesh

Continuing their violent agitation in Andhra Pradesh, activists of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) set ablaze the office of Mandal Development Officer (MDO) in Krishna district in the wee hours today, police said.

Continuing their violent agitation in Andhra Pradesh, activists of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) set ablaze the office of Mandal Development Officer (MDO) in Krishna district in the wee hours on Thursday, police said.

The main gate and some furniture of the office, located in Vastavai town, were damaged, they said.

The MRPS is demanding that the Centre immediately table a bill for classification of the Schedule Castes in the state.

The MRPS members have been carrying out a violent agitation in support of their demand. In the past few days, they have damaged public properties, besides attacking the residences of Ministers, MPs and MLAs in the State.

Yesterday, they gheraoed, K Ranga Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration, at Gampalagudem village demanding his resignation over the issue.
