State-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) on Friday posted a decline of 17.06 per cent in net profit at Rs 131.28 crore for the quarter that ended on June 30, as compared to Rs 158.29 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The total income of the company decreased by 2.39 per cent to Rs 1,361.89 crore for the first quarter that ended on June 30, from Rs 1,395.29 crore for the corresponding quarter a year ago, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The shares of the company were trading at Rs 143.20, down 2.35 per cent at the BSE.
