Former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed visited Doda in the Chenab valley region where he held a public meeting and sought votes for the party.
A rousing reception was given to the PDP patron by the PDP candidates and party workers. In his speech, Mufti said some political parties are trying to divide people on the basis of religion and ethnic lines. The entire scenario has changed not only in Jammu and Kashmir but in entire South Asia and has paved way for a resolution to the conflict by bringing India and Pakistan closer.
Peace was restored to some extent in the trouble-torn Jammu and Kashmir, he said, adding that if elected, the PDP government would pursue resolution to the Kashmir issue with fresh resolve.
Mufti Sayeed said the central government headed by Narendra Modi shall have to pursue agenda that would be politically inclusive and developmentally intensive and it shall have to take measures to address both internal and external dimensions of the Kashmir issue taking on board all the stakeholders, including separatists.
The PDP would carry forward its agenda of political resolution, economic development, good governance and justice, he said, adding that in these assembly elections people of the state "would judge us on our performance during our short period in the government, in the opposition and on the basis of our political and give us a clear mandate".

Shahabul Haq said, "Give a chance to the PDP in these assembly elections and we will try to live up to your expectations. We will try our best as per people's aspirations." He also thanked people who attended the public meeting and came from far-off places.
