Meanwhile, activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha took out a procession and burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh for his soft stand on the demand to ban SIMI.

City unit president of the morcha Rahul Srivastav said, in the light of the suspected role of SIMI in the serial bomb blast in Mumbai the attitude of SP leaders was objectionable.

They also condemned Union Minister for Human Resources Arjun Singh and AR Antule for raising suspicion on the role of Hindu outfits in the serial bomb blast. They said SP and Congress were engaged in vote bank politics. They demanded the arrest of Arjun Singh and Antule.

Party leader Devesh Srivastav, Sanjay Gaur, Rajiv Asthana and others said the move of the State Government to withdraw cases lodged against SIMI leaders in the Kanpur riots of 2001 was condemnable.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Vibhuti Bhushan Gupta and Ajay Kumar Jaiswal said the bomb blast was the outcome of appeasement policies of the Union Government. President of Gorakhpur Udyog Vyapar Mandal Ishwar Das said it was a failure of the Union government and demanded resignation of Union Minister for Home Affairs Shivraj Patil.
