Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav defeated Ashok Shakya of BSP in Mainpuri by 3,37870 votes. BSP leader Mayawati won the Akbarpur seat by defeating Samajwadi Party's Sankhlal Manjhi by 58,272 votes.
