Mulayam summons MLAs meet

The chief minister has asked all MLAs to chalk out a plan for securing trust votes in the House, reports M Hasan.

Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has summoned a meeting of Samajwadi Party MLAs on January 24 to chalk out an action plan for securing vote of trust on the floor of the House on January 25.

The Agriculture Minister Dr Ashok Bajpai told newsmen in Lucknow on Thursday that the government was firmly in saddle. He said the government would seek trust of the House during passage of motion of thanks on the Governor’s address. He said the party was in favour of assembly election in February along with other three states, but the Congress had hampered the process.

Interestingly after long drawn tussle between the chief minister and Raj Bhawan, Bajpai lauded the Governor TV Rajeswar for appreciating law and situation and developmental activities during the last three years in the state in his address to joint session of Vidhan Mandal on Thursday. He said “the Governor has specially praised the government for improvement in law and order”. Bajpai said “the governor is a good person but the Congress has been trying to mislead him”.

The Urban Development Minister Mohd Azam Khan said the government had almost completed its term and early election should be held. Khan said the party would oppose imposition of the President’s rule. Referring to forthcoming Supreme Court judgment in defection case of 33 BSP MLAs Khan said “we would look into the matter after the decision”.
