Two students from the city secured the highest marks in the Common Entrance Test conducted by the state government for admission into engineering and medical courses.
Jyotin Shah topped the CET for admission into medical courses while Udit Chitalia scored the highest marks for the test conducted for admission into engineering and pharmacy.
"I was not expecting this but thought I would get a rank in the top ten. I owe my success to my parents and teachers," Jyotin, a student of Jai Hind college in south Mumbai, told PTI after learning of her results.
Jyotin, a resident of Tardeo in south Mumbai, said the very first thing that she did after hearing about her result, 199 marks out of 200, was to go to Siddhivinayak temple.
"I have had the dream of becoming a doctor since I was in fifth standard and I want to become a cardiologist," she said.
Jyotin plans to obtain her MBBS degree from King Edward Memorial hospital in central Mumbai followed by post-graduate studies.
The topper in the CET for admission into engineering and pharmacy courses was Udit Chitalia from the CSS Patkar college in Goregaon who earned a perfect score on 200.
"I have been preparing for the CET for over a year and though I initially found it difficult. I am happy to have done so well," Udit said.
