A NON-BAILABLE warrant has been issued by a court of Fatehpur against the jailor of Varanasi District Jail here, Sohan Lal Gupta in connection with murder of two inmates of jail under the judicial custody on March 6, 2006.

A team of police arrived in the city on Thursday and pasted the Court notice on the entrance of jail premises here. The higher jail authorities, reportedly during the investigation of case had found the role of jailer suspicious in the incident.
The court notice has also warned the jailor for attachment of his property if he did not report to the court.
It may be noted that Jailor Sohan Lal Gupta was earlier posted in Fatehpur jail. He had sent two hardcore undertrials to the hospital in Allahabad for treatment.
The inmates, Satish Maurya and Maharajdeen Yadav, accused of murder had been allowed by the jailor to go to Allahabad on a private luxury four-wheeler instead of the police van with limited cops.
Sources said, since the medical college had closed by 2 pm, so the inmates went to the house of an escort cop and had lunch there. On return to Fatehpur, the inmates with cops reached a brick kiln and threatened the owner for extortion. When, he refused, the inmates beat him up. The labourers of the brick kiln, agitated with attack on their master, killed both inmates in presence of cops.
