Murder mystery of NRI solved, three arrested

With the arrest of three accused, the district police on Sunday claimed to have solved a blind murder of an NRI Charanjit Singh of Atalgarh village falling in Hoshiarpur district, who was found murdered under mysterious circumstances outside a hotel during wee hours on September 28.

With the arrest of three accused, the district police on Sunday claimed to have solved a blind murder of an NRI Charanjit Singh of Atalgarh village falling in Hoshiarpur district, who was found murdered under mysterious circumstances outside a hotel during wee hours on September 28.

The arrested accused were identified as Kamal Kumar of Adampur, Raj Kumar and Rajeev Kumar of Basti Sheikh, Jalandhar, while another accused Vipan Kumar, who was an alleged contract killer, and his two more accomplices had still not been arrested.

Superintendent of Police (SP) City-II Sarbjeet Singh said on Sunday that the police started an investigation into the case on the complaint of Tejinder Kaur, wife of the deceased.

He said that during preliminary investigation police have come to know that Charanjit Singh gave about Rs 35-lakh to Kamal Kumar, when he was in England, to buy property for him in Punjab. Kamal purchased four plots out of the money but got the property registered in the name of his family members.
