Giving this information to mediapersons here on Thursday, patron of Nad Bramha, Padamvibhushan awardee and renowned tabla maestro Pt Kishan Maharaj said that renowned classical musicians would stage their performance on this musical evening at Nagri Natak Mandali on March 25.

He said Divisional Commissioner of Varanasi, CN Dubey, will be chief guest while district magistrate, Nitin Ramesh Gokarn will be special guest on the occasion.

Pt Kishan Maharaj said that his organisation would extend financial assistance to the bereaved family members of dholak player Gulam Jaffer Khan of Jhansi.

“Jaffer had given his consent to stage his programme at Nagari Natak Mandali on March 25 but unfortunately he died of cancer on March 17,” he said and added that he was informed by the bereaved son over telephone.

Since this organisation was established by his daughter Anjali Mishra last year, the first annual function of this organisation was organised in a bid to collect money for the devastating Tsunami victims. “Now again, the classical music function of Nad Bramh is going to be organised for a noble purpose,” he said.

Pt Maharaj informed that Kathak dancer Nandini Sinha of Kolkata would present her dance items while Suchit Narang of Dehradun, a blind artiste would stage his vocal programme on March 25. He further added that Dev Jyoti Bose of Kolkata would render Sarod while Pt Kumar Bose of Kolkata would play tabla during the musical evening. Besides, other artistes who will accompany the musicians are Pt Vijay Shankar, Pratik Mukherjee on tabla, Ananad Gupta on harmonium, Ananad Lahiri on tabla and Jamuna Vallabh Das ‘Bhaiya Jee’ on harmonium.
