The organisations said in their statement that Vande Mataram is the hymn to Goddess Durga that comes out of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyaya’s novel ‘Anand Math’ that instigated towards destruction of mosques and wiping out Muslims from the country.

“Those who are forcing the Muslims to sing Vande Mataram should understand that patriotism is proved by giving life and blood for country and not by singing a song”, said the organisations.

“The hymn that inspires the fundamentalist who wish to establish a Hindu Rashtra and fan communal feelings should not have any place in this secular country”, said the statement issued by various organisations including MP Muslim Vikas Parishad, United Muslim Front, Milli Council, Manav Seva Parishad and Tehrik-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.

The organisations said that the secular citizens of this country and the 20 crore Muslims would never recite the song. “Those who are telling Muslims to sing the hymn in order to live in this country should be charged with criminal case of anti-national activities”, said Mohammad Mahir, Dr Abdullah, Dr Musharraf Ali, Afzal Mohammad Khan, Wakeel Ahmad and Kalim Akhtar, representing the various Muslim organisations.

The hymn that comes from a communal and pro-British novel besides eulogising the nation as Goddess Durga should not have any place in a secular nation, says the statement. “Those forcing the Muslims to sing Vande Mataram themselves had no role in the freedom movement of the country”.

Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Manav Seva Vikas Parishad president Qari Abdul Wakil Khan urged the Muslims not to send their children to schools on September 7 in view of the compulsory nature of the order.

The organisations urged Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan not to force Muslims to sing the hymn in schools, colleges and government offices because Muslims pray the creator and love to motherland is part of their ‘Iman’ but they can’t pray to any land.
