Curfew in Muzaffarnagar was relaxed from noon to 7pm.

Meanwhile, the body of a 17-year-old boy was discovered in Meerut on Thursday, leading to the arrest of three persons belonging to a different community.

The state government has announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for those who give information about people spreading a fake MMS and distributing CDs of a video clip showing a mob killing two youths. The video clip was shot in a tribal area of Pakistan, posted on a social networking site and passed off as a Muzaffarnagar clip.

Home secretary Kamal Saxena said the clip had been blocked on Youtube and Facebook. A case had been registered against those involved in sharing the video on Facebook, he said.

Saxena said the police had a video clip of a public meeting addressed by leaders of various political parties in Muzaffaranagar after Friday namaz on August 30.

“We are studying the video. The leaders gave hate speeches to incite a mob.”

FIRs have been registered against BJP leaders who had delivered provocative speeches at some meetings on August 31.

Inspector general of police Ashish Gupta said the police had a video clip of the meeting.

The state government has decided to form a special cell for analysis and investigations of the communal riots.
