BJP leader Sanjay Joshi, who had quit as the party General Secretary in December 2005 in the wake of CD controversy, on Thursday said Madhya Pradesh Police clean chit to him "vindicated" his stand that he was innocent.
"I came to know about my innocence through the media. Now, the truth has been exposed," he said and alleged that in fact the whole episode was to "malign BJP and RSS through character assassination".
Joshi said he had resigned as General Secretary of the party immediately after getting the news about "my alleged involvement in the CD controversy and had declared that I will not take up any party responsibility unless I am proved innocent."
Madhya Pradesh Police had given a clean chit to Joshi in the CD controversy, saying the video was "manipulated" and his photographs and the man shown in it did not match during forensic tests.
