A MYSTERIOUS disease is playing havoc on two- dozen villages of Kushinagar district. Despite all efforts, the medical officers and health department officials seem to be little concerned over this sensitive issue.
Political parties have also maintained silence on this sensitive issue. Despite the deaths of 57 children, they have remained unmoved.
However, a seven member fact-finding committee of Communist Party (ML) visited one dozen villages of Kushinagar district affected from the mysterious disease.
The committee has demanded Rs 1 lakh compensation for the family members of the diseased.
They even warned to step up their agitation against silence maintained by the State government on this very sensitive issue.
The committee has expressed its concern over the spreading of the disease in other surrounding areas and said in Khuthi village 28 children died due to the killer disease.
Beside it, Sewarhi, Bindupurwa, Belwania, Chargahan, Parwarpar, Phulwaria, Nauka Tola, Lal Chhapra, Motichak, Mathauli, Semra, Rajpur, Nebua Naurangia, Barwa Chhapar, Pakadyar, Pachperwa, Kurmi Patti, Captainganj villages are in grip of the killer disease.
A team of physicians from a district hospital of Kushinagar is camping in these villages but they have failed to check the spread of the disease. The doctors engaged in treatment of the patients said the symptoms of the disease are like encephalitis. High fever with vomiting and fissure are the symptoms of the disease, which is fatal.

{{/usCountry}}The team blamed the district administration for insensitive approach in providing medical facilities to the patients in affected villages. They said no pathological test of the patients has been conducted so far.
Members of the team Yashwant Singh, Nasirullah Ansari, Kanhaiya Lal Yadav, Ram Jatan and others said it was unreasonable that State government has directed the officials to organise chaupal in the villages and to resolve the grievances of the people.
But the officials are not taking the notice of the disease, which has created fear in two dozen villages of Kushinagar district. The team members have decided to organise a demonstration at district headquarters on December 26.
