NABARD holds meet on REDP

NATIONAL BANK for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) convened a meet of the NGOs and technical training institutes associated with the implementation of Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programme (REDP) at its state regional office in the City on Monday.

NATIONAL BANK for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) convened a meet of the NGOs and technical training institutes associated with the implementation of Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programme (REDP) at its state regional office in the City on Monday.

Inaugurating the meet, NABARD’s chief general manager Ashok Mathur said the Bank has been implementing several grant based training programmes for employment generation for the rural youths.

Stating REDP – a means to support capacity building of rural unemployed persons for setting up self-employment enterprises, he stressed on training in diversified activities supported with local indigenous technology. Mathur added that since 1990 NABARD has conducted 361 REDPs in MP through 28 agencies training nearly 9,500 youths.

The NGOs also shared their experiences, constraints faced in implementation of REDP and suitable measures needed in the meet. A presentation on rural innovation fund (RIF) was made.
