All elected management council members of the university, including Sharayu Taiwade, Kalpana Jadhav and Pradip Ghorpade, who initially objected to the use of ground, finally walked to the university office and gave their consent letters.

It was said that, the state BJP leaders had approached the senior NCP functionaries on the issue. Subsequently, Rajesh Tope, higher and technical education minister and the principal secretary, higher education, JS Saharia, instructed the university authorities to provide the ground.

According to some pro-saffron management council members, they were completely kept in dark about the issue as Vice-Chancellor SN Pathan, did not mention it properly in the council meeting, held on December 30.

Gaurishankar Parashar, the pro-vice-chancellor of the university, said that the BJP would get a formal letter in this direction within next couple of days.
