Nahid Merchant has always been a keen observer & follower 'of designing in one from or the other, ever since her childhood days - the passion & thirst or art was the premier & only reason to acquire formal knowledge in fine arts. She holds a degree from the J.J. School of Arts in the year 1984.
Her passion for good clothes override her passion for painting & hence the switch over. She defines designing as an amalgamation of line, form, color & texture.
She began her fashion career in 1986 with exhibitions & later shifted her grounds to exports under the label "Insilks" to London, USA, South Africa & Kuwait. There was no looking back at this point of time; she began a never-ending journey...
Her first coUection was Jaunched in 1994 for the hi fashion store "Melange". She now retails from reputed stores like Ensemble Mumbai & Delhi, Sosa's-Goa,Oorja,Elahe, Origins-Hyderabad, Melange - Mumbai, Zenon - Calcutta, Fuel - Mumbai, Seven Chennai, ISIS - Bangalore, Silons - London, Raaz - USA.
She has been associated with several fashion events & shows for the stores she retails from.
