India's Gagan Narang won the gold and Abhinav Bindra took the silver in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions of the 18th Commonwealth Games shooting event in Melbourne on Friday.

Narang fired 1261.4 (1163+98.4) points to set a new Games record erasing the old mark of 1251.5 of compatriot Charan Singh, who achieved the feat at the previous edition of the Games at Manchester, 2002.
Bindra scored 1248.6 (1151+97.6) points to come second.
Australia's Ben Burge took the bronze with an overall score of 1238.2 (1150+88.2) points.
