TAKING A firm stand against agitating UP State Transport Corporation employees, who went on a 24-hour statewide token strike today, Transport Minister Naresh Agarwal ruled out possibility of any compromise or talks with the staff and threatened to give some of the routes to the private sector.

Talking to Hindustan Times here on Tuesday evening, Agarwal disclosed that he had already ordered that no new buses would be purchased neither any new person would be recruited in the UPSRTC anywhere in the State.

On the employees’ major demand of merger of the DA with the basic salary, Naresh said it was a policy issue and the government would take a decision which would be implemented in all the corporations and as such no benefit could be given to the employees of the UPSRTC alone.

Making it clear that there was no question of accepting any of the employees’ demand, the minister said he would not hesitate to transfer some of the important routes to the private bus operators, who were already in touch with him.
